SHower receptor This receptor is beautiful. It has made a complete difference in the way my old bathtub space looks and functions. Kohler instructions were easy to follow. the receptor itself is stylish and highly functional. Having this installed for my 80 plus year in-laws has made their shower use a much safer and pleasant shower experience. April 19, 2011

What is a Alcove installation? Do you use a bath tub drain?

An alcove installation is design to install between three walls. This is sized similarly to common bathtub layouts and is a popular renovation item when converting a bath to a shower. You would use a shower drain rather than tub drain. Kohler recommends the K-9132.

What is the width dimention of the receptor threshhold and will it support a full length 1/2" thick frameless shower door?

The Kohler K-9054 is 60" x 30", 1/2" doors are made for these sizes.

What shower surround is recommended with this?

There is no specified Shower Surround suggested for the Kohler K-9054, any Kohler surround that matches its dimensions would work.

what surround is recommended for use with this?

The Kohler K-9054 is the Salient receptor with right-hand drain. Kohler doesn't recommend a surround for this unit, but they say that people often tile around it.
