Rite-Temp® pressure-balancing valve with push-button diverter and screwdriver stops

This Rite-Temp pressure-balancing valve works behind the scenes to prevent scalding and freezing for a safe, comfortable water supply. The valve features a high-temperature limit stop and an optimal comfort zone, so you can set a maximum high and then find and maintain your desired water temperature. Additionally, the unit has an integral push-button diverter, and diaphragm design virtually eliminates freeze-ups from contamination and water debris. Finally, screwdriver stops allow you to turn off the water supply at the valve.

Back-to-back installation is ideal for unique or high-volume jobs
Universal connections NPT and direct sweat are standard, no additional parts required
Large internal ports allow quick bath filling

Does what it is supposed to The rough-in valve works behind the scenes (and behind the wall) to make your tub and shower work. It is not something that you see after installation, but it is important to have a good one, no matter what external trim you use. This is a good one. I had it installed by a contractor as part of a bathroom renovation, so I can't comment on ease of installation, except to say that (1) the plumber highly recommended Kohler in general because he thinks their products are great quality for the price, and (2) it is good to pay slightly more to get the model with "screwdriver stops," because they make it easier for a plumber to service the plumbing later. As a consumer who uses the tub and shower, all I can say is that this valve works smoothly, and maintains a stable water temperature during the shower. The pushbutton diverter for the showerhead is very smooth - when you turn it on, water initially comes out the tub spout, and you push the button in to send the water up to the showerhead. It automatically pops out when you turn the water off, so the next time you turn it on, the water will be coming out of the tub spout again. I find this nice, because you don't have to worry that someone using your guest bathroom will accidentally activate the shower before closing the shower curtain and spray water all over your bathroom.
