Required a replacement cartridge While I am. Big Grohe fan, I have needed to replace the cartridge in two rough in valves before ever using them as they leaked when turned to the off position. Also, while I did mount this valve only 1/4" too deep, it required an extension kit that cost almost as much as the valve itself. overall Grohe products are so superior to other products of similar design and function. they are by far the quietest products made. Don't Be Fooled Big mistake buying the Grohe 35 016. Installed this valve in my new walk-in shower to save a few bucks and it turned into a big disappointment. You have to shut the water off to change diverter settings and avoid a water hammer. Don't be cheap and make the same mistake. Stand alone water diverter is the way to go. December 14, 2010

why would you design it like this? Seems like a great idea.... 'no need for a secondary valve to do the diverting' , I bought it to divert between my main shower head and hand my hand held shower hose, BUT (and its a big but) you have to switch the water back off change the diverter position (from main to hand and vice versa) and then switch the water back on again before it will change. major design flaw in my opinion April 23, 2010

Can I use the pressure balance valve with the diverter with #35 017 that does not need a diverter?

The Grohe 35 016 is actually built to work with the 35 015 pressure balanced valve.

Can this roughin plus Grohe 19 494 be used to supply water to the wall shower head OR the ceiling rain shower head? By that I mean one or the other, not both simultaneously

The Grohe 35 016 is meant to be used in cunjuction with a tub spout. It is not meant to divert water between a hand held and shower head

can you use this product with two shower heads, being able to use them individually or simultaneously?

The Grohe 35 016 is designed with an integral diverter to operate a tub spout. It only has the ability to feed one outlet on its own. If you plan on having two or more outlets, you will need to purchase a separate transfer valve and handle trim to operate the direction of water flow to your outlets.
