Mounting Bracket? Very nice well constructed valve. Sweat fittings make it easy to install. Can be soldered without removing the valve which saves time on installation. One drawback is this valve does not have a mounting flange. You will need to suspend it in the wall using clamps on your supply and output lines. For this reason, I recommend to sweat copper lines to this valve and clamp them in the wall before terminating to PEX or other materials for a rigid installation. September 17, 2010

This connects hot and cold water, got that. It turns on the shower head, got that. If you don't have a tub, what is the 4th water connection for? Can it be for a hand held shower head ACROSS the shower on a different wall?

You would need to cap it off if not using it for a tub spout. You cant use it for a shower head and hand shower cause there is no way to divert it like a diverter tub spout would have.

can I use this valve for shower and single handle shower instead of tub faucet? If I need to install a diverter -what would be compatible?

This valve would support two applications but you are coorect in that you would also need a diverer valve

I plan to buy the Somerset 19321 valve trim and the matching spout with built in diverter. Is the 35015 all I need, ie, will serve both as the tub/shower shutoff and temp control?

Can I add the Grohe 29 273 rough in valve above this valve as a way to control volume? If not, what would be the best way to install a volume control and still use the 35 015 valve?

No, you cannot add the Grohe 29 273 rough in valve above the The Grohe 35 015 OOO. Volume control does not work with a pressure balance valve. You would have to use a thermostat valve.

Can this valve be installed in an existing finished tile shower instead of the Delta single control already there?

You will need access to the valve currently in the wall to replace it. Hopefully through a back wall so you dont need to replace any tile.

Could I use a 1.5gpm, low flow shower head with this valve?

The Grohe 35 015 000 can be used with a 1.5 gpm shower head; there should be a restrictor in the shower head that will allow it to work.
