Product Details for the Broan RMP17004 in Stainless Steel

  • Dishwasher safe and easy to replace aluminum mesh filters trap and remove unwanted contaminants such as grease and food residue.
  • Bathe your cook top in the warm glow of 2 halogen bulbs (bulbs included).
  • Intuitive variable speed slide controls provide for unparalleled mastery of your kitchen environment.
  • Beautiful and stylish stainless steel construction.
  • Enjoy the convenience of a convertible ventilation system – clean and circulate internal air while maintaining kitchen temperatures and saving on heating/cooling bills (Model FILTEREB40).

Product Technologies:

  • Heat Sentry™: Broan's Heat Sentry technology vastly improves the safety capability of the range hood by automatically engaging the blower to its maximum speed once an excessive temperature has been reached.
  • Convertible Range Hood: Convertible range hoods can function either as a ventilated (ducted) or recirculating unit. The primary benefit being that it allows for the broadest compatibility across multiple kitchen environments. A convertible unit can be made into recirculating typically through the purchase of a recirculating kit. Convertible units don't compromise their efficiency or functionality between ducted or re-circulating configurations, leaving the choice entirely dependent on what's the most convenient for the end user.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Vent Hood We installed this with our new kitchen remodel but just started to use it a few days ago after the roof was replaced and vents in roof installed. Its a nice, quiet, quality fan and the lighting is warm but very useful.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not worth the money! This is a fairly loud unit. Naturally, I wasn't going to uninstall it and return it, so I just decided to live with it. It does do a good job of removing cooking odor and steam, with strength enough "to suck the bacon right out of the pan," as my builder said. So I would have rated this good or average a few days ago, but then all of a sudden it started making much, much more noise than usual. I have only had it 2.5 years (and the warranty expires after 1 year).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very quiet for the power it has. The two lights ensure the stove top is lit perfectly. The adjustable fan is definitely a great feature and the spinning fan cage is on the outside of the house. Our neighbors always know what's for supper in our house! Well worth the money spent 2+ years ago during our kitchen remodel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Been in for two years now and have had no problems. Can't go wrong with Broan/Neutone and it was a reasonable price.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Way too loud Impossible to stand near this thing when it is on because of the overpowering noise. . As a consequence, it does not get used. Worthless to us. I am surprised there are not more complaints.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Performance Issues 1)Overall, the hood performs well. The cook top and hood are located on an exterior wall between a corner of the kitchen and the wall oven. But despite a short (approximately 12?) metal duct with taped joints and seams to the outside, cooking odors have been noticed in other parts of the kitchen which are not near the outside wall. 2)The filter frames collect moisture. Once the fan is stopped hot water drips on the cook top or the cooks arms or hands. Removing the filters for cleaning leaves a trail of water. 3) 30 watt bulbs provide more than enough light and should be considered in lieu of the 50 watt bulbs provided. Obviously, energy will be saved.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Efficient removal of cooking odors and smoke, but VERY LOUD. Efficiency and sound were our top two criteria when purchasing an exhaust for our new kitchen. This was a disappointment since it was represented as being very quiet. We avoid using it since it is difficult to carry on a conversation while it is in use. Would not purchase again.

if this is installed as non ducted does the dishcarge pipe cut through the top of the cabinet

The Broan RMP17004 discharge pipe would go into the cabinet, you can recirculate it from there.

Can this be installed as a non ducted unit?

The Broan RMP17004 can be installed a s a non-ducted unit. You would need to order the non-ducted kit which is the Broan FILTEREB40. Some additional work is required for this configuration, but it can be a non-ducted unit.
