American Standard 994053-0070A Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reversing American Standard cartridges For those of you who don't know how to reverse the handle rotations on these universal cartridges, here is how to do it. These cartridges have 180 degrees of rotation that are closed in the middle of that rotation. The key is the stop washer with the tab on top of it, that only allows 90 degrees rotation at a time. Once you have the new cartridge(s) installed, but before you have replaced the escutcheon(s) and handle(s), try rotating the stem to see if the rotation is correct. If it is not, first make sure the cartridge is in the "off" position, then remove the tiny spring clip that holds down the stop washer. Then lift the stop washer enough to rotate it 90 degrees to the other stop. Replace the clip and then check again. Rotation should now be reversed and you can finish the assembly of the escutcheon and handle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The product and its cost were excellent. However, there were no instructions, and when I installed it on the cold water side, it worked backwards, and it seemed that it was designed for the hot water side only. Only after considerable research and studying the valve did I determine that the top of the valve had to be dissassembled and reconfigured to get the handle to work in the proper direction on the cold water side. A simple note with the valve about this extra requirement would have saved me a lot of time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Website for Faucets Purchasing the parts online was easy. There were parts for alot of faucets that are no longer in your local Lowe's or Home Depot. Finding parts are easy even if you dont know the name brand due to the pictures that are on the site. This site save me from having to purchase another faucet because I could not find replacement parts in the store to fix a leak. I repaired the leak for approx 25$. I will use this site again

Rated 5 out of 5 by from cartridge for bathroom fauset. I found that this cartridge is good for hot and cold water. In order for it to work for the cold, you have to remove the pin and reverse the piece it is holding down. No directions to let you know. I called American Standards and they are very helpfull.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works with Home Depot Williamsburg shower body In spite of the fact the my licensed plumber insists it is impossible to find replacement parts for plumbing fixtures purchased at the big chain stores, this valve is the exact replacement needed for the both the hot or cold water shower valves in my Williamsburg model shower set purchased at Home Depot. You simply reverese one part to make it work for hot water, comes ready to install for cold. I would have given it 5 stars but like the orginal, the handle brass screw mount is apt to break easily from over tightening causing the hadle to become loose. Otherwise no complaints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy and quick, but no real identifyer codes My bathroom sink began leaking, so I took it apart to see how I can fix it. I unscrewed the cartridge and took it to a (big box hardware store) and out of the dozens and dozens of brands/sizes/types, they did NOT have this one. So I looked online. My biggest complaint with the cartridges are that they are not numbered nor color coded, so i had no clue if the cartridges that I ordered were correct or not. (in fairness, there is a series of small numbers that can be read with a magnifying glass but multiple Google searches turned up nothing) I just went by sight, and trusted the description that it fit "all bathroom faucets". In my opinion, not cool at all, I felt like I was rolling the dice. Having said that, they were correct and installation was a breeze. Also, the user comments on the product page was very helpful for "reversing" the hot water cartridge so that the handle works opposite the cold water cartridge. I did not know this before the review, as others were very frustrated getting this to work. Also, the instructions provided with the cartridge was very clear on this process. All in all, it all worked out with minimal fuss and the cartridges work great.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fixing a leak I purchased these product to fix a leaky faucet. I have three complaints. 1. This was an expensive fix. 2. To fix hot and cold values requires two different products. One that turns left and the other to turn right. Your web site did not clearly distinguish between the two 3. It took a long time to get these parts ( six weeks) This job fixed one problem and created another. I will probably need a new faucet and doubt I will go with this same product line.
